The survey research design and convenient sampling method was used in this research to enroll participant who are all residents of Kastina Metropolis. The researcher made use of structured questionnaire as the research instrument to collect relevant data from 120 respondents on the subject matter of the research out of which a total of 105 questionnaires was retrieved and validated for the study. Data was analyzed  using frequency and table. Findings from the studies revealed the underlying causes of banditry such as unemployment, poverty, poor leadership, citizen’s alienation from governance, elite proliferation of arms, religious and ethnic differences and weak institution of the law enforcement agencies to mention but a few. Hence these banditry activities has affected the national development but economically and social wise. It has displaced economic activities, distort workplace harmony, impedes individuals economic investment  as ransom paying for release of victims of kidnap often affects both the state and household economy and also led to high government expenditure  on security matters. The study therefore recommends that public awareness programs should be created in Kastina State, government should map out synergic approach between the security forces and community police should be established, appropriate sanctions for those caught in the criminal act, phone sim-card registration, more job creation and alleviation of the poverty level in the.
